I give up, for now. Maybe I will have the knowlege and/or the help to try again some day(contact me if you can remedy the help part peter.wisdomdb@gmail.com). I will keep this site up in it's current state for as long as possible.

All is not lost, however. I am currently developing a new system(in my head), that could have only come from the experience learned here. Here are some theoretical features:
Faster, more linear (instead of exponential) speed
Takes up less space
Sites like Newgrounds and You Tube could use it
Even MORE power to the individual(!!)
Hopefully I can succeed with it where WisdomDB has failed.

June 14th

A while ago I said I was gonna fill up the site with content. Obviously, that hasn't happened, and I could come up with a varity of excuses, but, the one I will use today is incentive. I think will start to work on a user page and a way to view who voted for what on a topic. The user page will have all the stuff one would expect(topics/solutions created, topics voted on, testimonials, ect) perhaps more later.

Seems I haveing a little trouble getting feedback (probably due to the lack of users), so I made a topic about how to get more popular. Hopefully I get motivated to do one of those things at some point.

April 24th

Finished re-programming the ranking system, again. It's now twice as fast and takes up 1/4 the space. I think I'm going to try to fill the site up with content now. Got the idea from www.wikology.com. Kind of funny, they submitted information about other people's websites, then they emailed the site's admin (me) that they put up the information, and they could change it if they like. Clever.

April 14th

I added an html based feed, and I have added a default format for the php based feed. Now they both look pretty good. Meh, looks like I tore away most of the blocks that kept people from comming (that I can see), so why are people not yet comming? Is it the phpbb forum sign-in too scary? Is the look of it still too crappy? Still the user interface? Perhaps I should take more than a week off to reflect on what's wrong.

I changed the voting system, now it doesn't use dropdown menues and instead uses those circle checkmark thingys. I am unshure weather it is better than how it was before. Hmm...

April 9th

I upgraded the ranking system again. Before I got desenseitized by programming, I thought I would have solidity mean "How much votes this one was above the one below it", and now it does! I also have a package that you can download that will allow you to have any topic list appear on your website (requires php) wdb feeder. I will have a javascript/rss based solution to this problem sometime, however this solution is definatly the most customizable and also the least harsh on wisdomdb's servers. Use it if you can.

rss awesome?

So, apparently, rss can do some pretty great things. I would like to use it to say... send current rankings of a topic over to a website that shares that topic so it's users will be up to date on the current top guys. Also I would like to allow the webpage owner to be able moderate that topic as well(kinda like the one here: distro watch). So, I will be learning how to do that with rss for a while, maybe work on the site a little if I get inspired.

April 6th

Fixed a glitch ware it wouldn't save the hitting of Enter when displaying a discription. Also, introduced a tagging standard to seperate common and niche topics, as well as serious and ones that are just for fun. And with that, I also made front page topics that only show common topics, that are split up berween serious and for fun.

Borrowed a template to change the look of the site. It doesn't look like a bolg or something now.

Upgraded the ranking system, now humans can understand it :). It now shows weather solutions are tied for same rank so you don't have to ponder what solitity means too much.

April 3rd

Changed the name of popularity to pluses because it shorter and better reflects what it actually is. Also, came up with a good way to dispplay the rank solidity and pluses. And programmed it so rank is red when unranked and blue when 1st; Solidity is red when zero and blue when 4 or something (nothing has a 4 solidity yet.)

I have made a topics on some of the more popular internet subjects. With the features like ranking your solutions in terms of each other and a pros and cons system, the information that comes out of it should be quite informative, even with one contributer.

There are now two ways to get rankings on your site: php based and html based. For those that have php, the php based solution is the most custumizable and least harsh on this sites servers. For those that do not, the html based solution will have to do.
